The Pittsburgh Pirates announced that right-handed pitcher Yacksel Rios has been placed on the 10-day injured list with right shoulder inflammation. To take his roster spot, they have recalled right-handed pitcher Nick Mears.
Rios has made three appearances this season, allowing four runs over four innings of work. He had two scoreless appearances and one outing with four runs in one inning. Mears has made one appearance, which was his Major League debut back on August 8th. He gave up one run on one hit and three walks in one inning of work. Mears is the top ranked relief prospect for the Pirates.
Earlier today, the Pirates added right-handed pitcher Tyler Bashlor to the bullpen.
