The Pittsburgh Pirates (3-13) take on the Cincinnati Reds (8-10) in a four-game series at Great American Ball Park, starting tonight at 5:10 PM. This is the first game for the Pirates since their 2-1 loss to the Detroit Tigers at home on Sunday. Trevor Williams will be on the mound for the Pirates, while the Reds will counter right-handed pitcher Anthony DeSclafani. Williams allowed one earned run over seven innings in his last start, which occurred eight days ago. DeSclafani has thrown 11 shutout innings over his two starts this season, holding batters to a .135 average.
The Pirates announced their taxi squad for this short trip and it included three position players, including an interesting prospect. Guillermo Heredia, Andrew Susac and Jared Oliva. We probably aren’t going to see Oliva, even if they did need an outfielder, Heredia would get the call first I’m sure, but it’s a nice experience for him to go on the big league trip.
Keone Kela was added to the roster today and the Pirates designated Miguel Del Pozo for assignment.
