First Pitch: Pirates are Back in Action Tonight

Baseball is back today and I hope everyone made it through the last three days without doing something crazy, like going outside in the summer or watching a different sport. We will have the Live Game Discussion up around 4:30 PM for the odd start time of 5:10 PM in Cincinnati tonight. It appears that the game will be shown on MLB Network in some areas.

We will have an update later today because there will be at least one roster move to get Keone Kela activated for tonight’s game. Joe Musgrove went on the injured list on Monday, so the Pirates don’t need to make any other moves to get Kela on the 28-man roster. However, he’s not currently on the 40-man roster, so they will need to make a move there. He has been out the entire time since they returned due to COVID-19, but the Pirates cleared him to return yesterday.

With Musgrove out, the Pirates are going with Trevor Williams tonight, followed by Chad Kuhl, Steven Brault and Derek Holland for the rest of the series in Cincinnati. No more piggybacking for now with Kuhl and Brault. I’d expect JT Brubaker to get the first game back at PNC Park against the Cleveland Indians on Tuesday (Monday is another dreaded off-day).
