The Pittsburgh Pirates (2-6) are at Wrigley Field on Sunday afternoon to take on the Chicago Cubs (6-2) in the finale of a three-game series. The Pirates are sending Steven Brault to the mound for his second start. His season debut was shortened to two scoreless innings due to a rain delay. The Cubs are countering with lefty Jon Lester, who threw five no-hit innings in his season debut.
Prior to the game, the Pirates placed Mitch Keller and Michael Feliz on the 10-day injured list. Sam Howard and Cody Ponce were added to the 30-man roster. Both were already with the team as part of the three-man taxi squad that clubs are allowed to bring on the road this season. Keller left with left side discomfort in yesterday’s start, while Feliz left later due to right forearm discomfort.
Pirates added RHP Tyler Bashlor from the New York Mets today
Also this bit of news on Keone Kela, who has been out due to COVID-19. Kela was not around during Spring Training 2.0, so it might take some real time before he’s able to pitch in games, depending on what he was doing on his own during this down time.
Pirates closer Keone Kela (COVID-19) has been cleared to resume working out at PNC Park, manager Derek Shelton said. Unclear how long it’ll be before he’s back on the active roster.
